We Work for You. We would like to be your "professional agent" - your representative to the engineering and technology hiring communities.

We are working more than 40 high technology companies in the Pittsburgh area, and that number continues to grow. But please remember, if we're not working with a particular firm that you would like us to pursue on your behalf, we will be glad to. If you have seen an advertisement for a position, or have heard about one through a friend, etc., let us know. There's a chance we're already working with them, and if we are not, we know how to quickly develop a relationship.

As your agent, we want to help you in whatever way we can, and there is never any cost to you - the hiring firm pays our fee. But, if we discover that a company you want us to pursue will not consider hiring through an agency, we will promptly let you know so you can submit on your own. Of course you are always free to pursue positions on your own (we ask for no exclusivity), but we hope you'll consider the advantages, and see the value in the job we can do for you. Don't forget:

  • If you present your resume on your own, you are competing against everyone else who presented on their own. Where you may fall short is that, on another level, you are competing against all the candidates who are being represented by professional agencies like Balionis Group.
  • We already have (or will develop) a relationship with the company you're interested in. Consider this; don't you like it when you have a "friend" at a potential employer? One who can tell you what it's like to work there? And tell you about the corporate culture; the politics, the personalities, the expectations? If you get to meet the client yourself, you will be hearing just what they want you to hear, and sometimes, you'll hear what they think you want to hear. In getting to know both the client and the candidate as a third party, we can help you decide if they are the kind of company you truly want to work for.
  • We want to help you know what you're getting into. We, like you, don't like "surprises". We want you to be our friend for a long time, and we know that we have work hard and do our best to help you move into a position that you'll be happy with.

It is our objective to always enter an organization through the senior executive level. We obtain their approval and receive their blessing to work with the engineering directors, the hiring managers, and the human resources department to insure that the right people see your personal and professional information. We can periodically check on your submission to make sure it is not sidetracked, or even forgotten. We become your "friend" on the inside.

Before we present your information to a client in consideration for a position, we discuss it with you very carefully first.

  • We make sure all your questions are answered, and you feel that it is a position you would definitely want. If there is any uncertainty on your part, we work with you and the client to get the answers you need.
  • We want you to feel (both on a personal and professional level) good, even excited, about the position. Our clients count on us to help them save time by only submitting candidates who are informed about the scope of the work, the work environment and expectations, and any other factors they deem important. Our clients appreciate the fact that we are saving them time and money by only presenting candidates who are fairly certain that they want the job, and are not going to waste the client's time by simply "exploring" the possibilities.

We are able to communicate with the parties involved in the decision making process to insure you a high level of exposure. And, we can discuss with them, your strengths and weaknesses, and give them an insight into you far beyond the information presented in your resume. Plus, we can track your progress through their system and provide you with valuable feedback. Also, we are usually able to intercept any miscommunications or misunderstandings, and correct them before harm is done. If you're removed for consideration for a position, we will find out why. How many times have you sent a resume in to a company, and never hear anything back from them at all?

  • Ever wonder what happened?
  • Did they actually get your resume?
  • Did the right people get to see it?
  • And if so, what did they think?
  • Why were you rejected?

You can usually only get answers to those questions if you have a close relationship with that client, and it's often impossible to get answers without it.
